The course on the functions Excel got this year
GROUPBY, PIVOTBY, REGEX and TRIMRANGE in 2 to 3 hours, with the Google Sheets version of every lesson and one module on using AI to write and check formulas. Swap your pivot tables, helper columns and copy-paste work for a handful of formulas.
| Instead of… | …one formula |
|---|---|
| A pivot table you refresh by hand | =GROUPBY() |
| A cross-tab with months as columns | =PIVOTBY() |
| LEFT/MID/FIND to pull out codes | =REGEXEXTRACT() |
| Ranges that stop at row 1000 | =TRIMRANGE() |
What the course covers
Short lessons, each with a practice workbook (start and solution). The plan, not a promise: lessons may shift as Microsoft ships updates.
| Module | What you learn | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dynamic arrays in 15 minutesA quick refresher | spill ranges · FILTER · SORT · UNIQUE |
| 2 | GROUPBYSummaries without a pivot table | totals · multiple columns · sorting · filtering inside the formula |
| 3 | PIVOTBYCross-tabs that update themselves | rows × columns · subtotals · PERCENTOF |
| 4 | REGEXClean and check messy text | REGEXTEST · REGEXEXTRACT · REGEXREPLACE, with every pattern explained piece by piece |
| 5 | TRIMRANGE and the trim dotRanges that fit your data | TRIMRANGE · A2:.A1000 |
| 6 | Put it togetherA dashboard without a pivot table | The functions above, combined into one report that updates when the data does |
| 7 | The same in Google SheetsWhat works, what doesn't, what to use instead | QUERY · REGEX · Sheets equivalents |
| 8 | AI as your assistantLet Copilot or Gemini write a formula, then check it | When AI saves time and when a formula is the safer answer. Every other lesson works without AI. |
Questions
- When does it come out?
- There's no date yet. I build it once enough people join this list, so the course is shaped by what you actually need.
- What will it cost?
- The price isn't set. The waitlist gets the presale price first, before anyone else. Joining the list is free and doesn't commit you to anything.
- Which Excel version?
- The new functions need Microsoft 365 or Excel for the web. Google Sheets users get their own version of each lesson.
- Want a taste now?
- The free 2026 Formula Pack has a cheat sheet of these functions and the practice workbooks from the videos.
